COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech will host an FCS Playoffs Selection Show watch party on Sunday morning at 11:30 a.m. Fans, alumni and supporters are all welcome as the event is open to the public.
The event will be held at Robert and Gloria Bell Hall – Tech's Nursing building on West 7th Street. Parking will be available in the lot outside the building at the corner of Mahler Ave. and West 6th Street. Doors open at 11 a.m.
The NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision Playoff selection show will air at 11:30 a.m. on ESPNU as the Golden Eagles await their playoff fate. If selected, it will be Tech's second FCS Playoffs appearance and first since 2011.
With the Golden Eagles' win over Eastern Illinois, Tennessee State's victory over Southeast Missouri and UT Martin's overtime thriller over Lindenwood, Tech, TSU, SEMO and UTM all tied in the league standings at 6-2. The Redhawks won the tiebreaker and the combined conferences' automatic bid to the FCS Playoffs.
The championship is Tech's 11th as a member of the Ohio Valley Conference – the most in the league's current configuration, joining titles in 1952, 1953, 1955, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1972, 1975 and 2011.
Whether the Golden Eagles are selected or not, there's still a lot to celebrate about the 2024 campaign as Tech finished the regular season with five straight wins – the first in-season five-game win streak since 1999, a 7-5 record – the most single-season wins since 2011, and possession of the Sergeant York Trophy.
