Tech Director of Athletic Performance Hewett claims third CrossFit Games team title with CrossFit Mayhem Freedom

MADISON, Wisc. – Tennessee Tech Director of Athletic Performance Matt Hewett came from this weekend's 2018 CrossFit Games with another trophy to put on the shelf.
 
Competing with the CrossFit Mayhem Freedom team with Rich Froning, Lindy Barber and Tasia Percevecz, Hewett and his teammates placed first in the team division, claiming 900 points.
 
"We are tremendously proud of Coach Hewett in how he has represented both the city of Cookeville and our university," said Tech Director of Athletics Mark Wilson. "Through his and his team's efforts, we know our student-athletes are in great hands as they train to soar to greater heights."
 
Their top effort came in a first-place finish in the bicouplet relay, finishing in a time of 13:47.13. The team also earned a second-place finish in the handstand bob with an 8:33.25 time.
 
CrossFit Mayhem Freedom also finished fifth in the lunging worm (14:18.25), ninth in the bob sprint (:33.15), 10th in the running bob (10:34.08) and 16th in the team triplus (37:23.79).
 
It is the third team championship for CrossFit Mayhem Freedom after wins in 2015 and 2016.
