Golden Eagles 7th after day one, Everts leads Tech

DICKSON, Tenn. -- Sophomore Madalyn Everts carded a 77 to lead the Tennessee Tech women's golf team after one round at the Ohio Valley Conference championship tournament in Dickson, Tenn. 

Everts sits at +5, tied for 12th place out of the 50 golfers participating in this week's tournament. She is just three strokes behind the leader, Ornella Arrizon of Jacksonville State.

Freshman Megan Williamson is just behind Everts on the Tech roster, entering the clubhouse in a tie for 28th after her first-round 82. Junior Amber Shepherd and senior Katherine Bell are bunched together, shooting 84 and 85, respectively. Senior Amanda Randolph rounds out the Golden Eagle squad with a 90 on Sunday.

Tech is in seventh place out of the ten teams in contention after finishing round one with a team score of 328. Jacksonville State leads the tournament with a 305. 

Round two of three is slated to begin Monday morning at the GreyStone Golf Club. Tee times will be announced later on Sunday.
