COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech tennis coach Kenny Doyle
will take four Golden Eagles to Athens, Ga., this weekend to
compete in the 2011 Southern Intercollegiate Championships,
scheduled for Friday through Monday at the Dan Magill Tennis
Complex at the University of Georgia.
Seniors Alex Chen and Justin Kirstein and sophomores Syrym
Abduhkailikov and Vasily Eremeev will represent Tech in the singles
portion of the tourney, while Kirstein and Eremeev will also team
up to compete in doubles.
The 2011 tournament features participants from 26 schools
including Auburn, The Citadel, Davidson, Eastern Kentucky, East
Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Southern, Georgia State,
Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Liberty, Lipscomb, LSU, Mercer, Minnesota,
Mississippi State, NC State, Samford, South Carolina, Stetson,
Tennessee, Tennessee Tech, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech and Winthrop.
This is the 44th edition of the Southern Intercollegiate
Championships, and it is the oldest fall college tennis tournament
in America.
The field will be divided into three singles divisions and two
doubles divisions, and there will be a champion from each
division.
