Abdukhailikov and Chen win Goodfriend Doubles Draw

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Alex Chen and Syrym Abdukhailikov doubles team headlined Tennessee Tech’s final day in the Tennessee Fall Tournament Sunday.

In their three days of competition at the Tennessee Fall Tournament, the Golden Eagles racked up a total of 15 victories, including 10 singles victories and five doubles victories.

Riding a pair of victories against pairings from Lipscomb and Tennessee, Abdukhailikov and Chen entered the final round of the Goodfriend Doubles Draw where they defeated the Xavier pairing of Richard Canelas and Marc Pretorius 9-7.

The Tech pairing of James Crawford and Vasily Eremeev participated in the finals of the Barksdale Doubles Draw, but ultimately fell to the Xavier team of Mesa Mei and Michael Moe 8-6.

In singles action, Abdukhailikov took on Wake Forest’s Daniel Kreyman in the Orange Singles Consolation Draw. Despite a gallant effort, Abdukhailikov was not able to take home the win as he fell to Kreyman in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.

The Golden Eagles continue their fall schedule Friday, as they take part in the four-day Southern Intercollegiate, in Athens, Ga.
