Tech freshman Augusto named OVC Tennis co-Player of the Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. --- Tennessee Tech freshman Alejandro Augusto has been the named the Ohio Valley Conference co-Player of the Week in men’s tennis.

Last week Augusto finished with a perfect 4-0 record, which included a pair of singles victories and two wins with his doubles playing partner, Justin Kirstein. His efforts helped guide Tech to a pair of conference wins against Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State.

Augusto, a business major from Madrid, Spain who joined the Golden Eagle roster in January, began the week with two wins against EKU including a 6-2, 7-5 win over Philip Janz and an 8-4 win over the doubles pairing of Parul Verma and Craig Campbell. His win at No. 3 singles clinched Tech's 4-3 victory and snapped a 25-match winning streak by the Colonels.

Augusto finished the week with a 6-1, 6-1 singles victory over MSU’s Kevin Deligny and an 8-4 win against Nathan Martin and Nathan Blum in doubles action.

Jacksonville State’s Nenad Marcec was named the co-Player of the Week as well, having won two singles matches and one double match last week.
