COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech men's basketball team ended play for its summer trip to the Dominican Republic on a high note Sunday, defeating the Caneros de La Romana, 84-76.

"I think having that day off between games really helped us recooperate," head coach Steve Payne said. "We had just finished playing four games in three days, but we looked good out there. I think as a whole, this trip has really been an eye-opener for us and we learned a lot about ourselves as a team."

With the victory, the Golden Eagles finished its game schedule with an impressive 4-1 mark over five days of action.

For the third time during the trip, junior big man Charles Jackson collected a double-double. The transfer from the College of Southern Idaho led the Tech group with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Senior guard Jordan Johnson tallied his highest output of the trip, dropping 14 points in the victory. Sophomore Shirmane Thomas finished his second consecutive contest with a double-digit scoring effort, scoring 12 points.

The Golden Eagles will return to Cookeville on Tuesday, Aug. 19.
