Hill, Ogbe named to 2013-14 NABC Honors Court

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Leaders in the locker room for the Tennessee Tech men's basketball game for much of their respective careers, Mitchell Hill and Dennis Ogbe were each honored for their accomplishments in the classroom recently, earning spots on the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) 2013-14 Honors Court.

In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows: academically a junior or senior, cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2013-14 academic year and students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.

A senior member of the program in 2013-14, Ogbe averaged 10.6 points per game and a team-high 5.8 rebounds per contest while shooting 61 percent from the field. The honor just adds to an already stuffed resume for the former Golden Eagle as the Munich, Germany native took home some of the biggest awards of his career this season including: Tennessee Tech's Man of the Year Award, Capital One Academic All-America honors, and a spot as a candidate for the Senior Class Award. He finished his Tech career as a student-athlete with a 3.87 GPA in electrical engineering.

Ogbe will continue his education in pursuit of a Ph.D in electrical engineering at Purdue University.

A redshirt junior and native of Cookeville, Mitchell Hill also took home honors from the NABC. He played in eight games for the Tech squad in 2013-14, shooting 75 percent from the free throw line.

Having already earned his degree with a 3.61 GPA in EXPW/licensure, Hill will forgo his final year of eligibility and join the Golden Eagle coaching staff as a graduate assistant.

A record number of 895 student-athletes from 335 colleges and universities earned NABC Honors Court distinction.
