COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – It's practically become habit. At least it seems like it. For the fifth time this season, the Ohio Valley Conference named Tennessee Tech junior Charles Jackson its Newcomer of the Week Monday afternoon, following a dominating performance in Saturday's victory over Jacksonville State.

Jackson took home adidas® OVC Newcomer of the Week accolades yet again after posting 17 points and tying a career-high with 16 rebounds while leading the Golden Eagle men's basketball team to a decisive 72-59 win over the Gamecocks. He added two blocks in the game and shot 66.7 percent from the field. Ten of the center's boards came on the offensive glass.

The performance marked the big man's 15th double-double of the year, sparking the creation of a fan-made Twitter account, @DidChuckDouble (DidChuckDoubleDouble). He leads the OVC in the category and ranks in a tie for fourth in the nation.

On the year, Jackson leads the Golden Eagles in scoring with 13.3 points per game, rebounding with 9.3 per game, blocks with 32, steals with 23 and field goal percentage with a clip of 59.4 percent.

His 15 doubles are the most in a single season in program history since the 1996-97 season. The late, great Lorenzo Coleman posted a whopping 20 that season, half of his career total of 40.

The Golden Eagles will return to the hardwood on Thursday, Feb. 12 when they host Tennessee State at 7 p.m. CST. The game will televised on the American Sports Network with more specific details of how else to follow the action to come in the next few days.
