SETTING THE STAGE
In the first meeting between the two programs since 2001, the Golden Eagles enter the game following a 70-58 loss at USC that was much closer than the final score might indicate.

After falling behind 13-2 early in the contest, Tech fought back to within as much as two points and kept the game within two scores for much of the second half. A late Trojan run would eventually move the Golden Eagles to 1-1 on the year.

The Mocs come into the contest following two tough losses to No. 3 Wisconsin and Butler. UTC dropped an 89-45 game to the Badgers on the road and two days later, lost 70-48 to the Bulldogs, also on the road.

Big men Dwan Caldwell and Charles Jackson have proven to be a dominant force in the paint for the Golden Eagles through two games. Caldwell is averaging 16.5 points and five rebounds per game while shooting .560 from the floor. Jackson is averaging a double-double thanks to 11 points and 11.5 boards per contest.

On the visitor's side, Casey Jones is the scorer, averaging 12.7 points in three games. Justin Tuoyo is the top rebounding man for the Mocs, pulling down 7.3 per game while also blocking eight shots on the season.
