Golden Eagles look for third straight victory, hit the road for OVC tilt with Gamecocks

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Two straight victories have the Tennessee Tech baseball team nipping on the heels of a spot in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. The Golden Eagles will look to keep that dream alive with a third win as they head south, Saturday evening, for their second match-up of the 2014-15 campaign with Jacksonville State.

Tech and Jax State will tip off in a 7:30 p.m. CST tilt in Jacksonville, Ala. with all the coverage available on the OVC Digital Network. The Golden Eagles women's team will kick off a doubleheader night with their own contest at 5:00 p.m.

The meeting marks the second of the year between the two programs, as the Golden Eagles cruised to a 72-59 victory in the Eblen Center just last Saturday.

SETTING THE STAGE
Tech owns an 18-10 all-time series lead against the Gamecocks, including claiming each of the past four match-ups. The Golden Eagles have also captured three consecutive double-digit wins.

Jax State enters after snapping a five-game losing streak with an impressive 72-70 victory over Belmont Wednesday evening. With the win, the Gamecocks moved to 9-3 at home on the year.

The Golden Eagles head south after collecting their second win in as many games, dashing past the Tigers of Tennessee State for a comfortable, 71-52 win. Dwan Caldwell led the way against TSU, scoring 17 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Mason Ramsey added 10 points and six boards while Josiah Moore chipped in 13 points and six rebounds as well.

In the last match-up between these two squads, Charles Jackson was essentially a tyrant in the paint, scoring a team-high 17 points while tying a career-high mark of 16 rebounds. Sophomore DeOndre Haynes dropped 12 points with seven rebounds off the bench while Caldwell added 11 points and seven boards.
