BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Putting forward one of the best defensive weekends of her career, graduate middle blocker Skylar Boom picked up the first weekly honor of her career, earning Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week accolades as announced by the league Monday afternoon.

The veteran piled up 19 total blocks across three matches during the week, including a whopping eight solo stops. Averaging 1.73 blocks per set, Boom added 24 kills for a 2.18 per set average to the mix as well.

In Tech's midweek tilt at Morehead State, Boom tallied two blocks with five kills. She upped her game significantly while in Edwardsville, blasting open the weekend with eight total rejections and nine kills in the first game with SIUE. The effort included four solo stops.

The Louisville native boasted four more solo blocks in Saturday's tilt against the Cougars, as the middle amassed nine total stops to lead the match. She chipped in 10 kills for good measure as well.

Boom moved into seventh on Tech's all-time career charts for total blocks with 338. She also currently ranks 10th on the program's all-time career list for solo blocks with 75.

The Golden Eagles return to the Hoop to host Eastern Illinois in a pair of tilts next weekend. Action will start Friday evening with a 6:00 p.m. CT match and conclude Saturday night with a 7:00 p.m. affair following the Tech football game against Southeast Missouri.
