EVANSVILLE, Ind. – With basketball season just around the corner, the Ohio Valley Conference held its annual OVC Basketball Media Day powered by Vectren on Tuesday. Normally hosted in Nashville, the event moved to Evansville, Indiana, the new site of the OVC Basketball Championships for the 2017-18 season.
Head coach Kim Rosamond traveled to Evansville to partake in media day festivities, starting on Monday with the OVC-hosted Youth Basketball Clinic.
On Tuesday morning, Rosamond spoke with various media at the DoubleTree Evansville about the upcoming season, as well as the tournament move to Evansville's Ford Center.
Featured at Media Day for the first time was a coaches' interview live stream on the OVC Digital Network. All 24 conference coaches spoke with Ray Giacoletti, former men's head coach at Eastern Washington, Utah and Drake.
The OVC unveiled its men's and women's preseason polls and All-OVC teams at Media Day (Tech is picked to finish fifth, and senior guard Yaktavia "Shug" Hickson made it onto the preseason All-OVC team), as well as the new OVC Basketball Championships logo to commemorate its new location in 2018.
