Tech sets off on four-game road stretch with visit to Austin Peay Thursday night

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Tech women's and men's basketball teams play their next four games on the road, beginning Thursday night with an Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader at Austin Peay. The women's game tips off at 5:15 p.m., with the men's contest slated for 7:30 p.m. in the Dunn Center in Clarksville.

In the women's contest, the Golden Eagles seek to win their fourth straight over the Lady Govs. Tech owns a 66-13 all-time record against Austin Peay, including both contests last year. Tech allowed just 52 points in each game, winning 65-52 in Cookeville and 69-52 in Clarksville.

This season, Austin Peay is tied for fifth in the OVC with a 4-3 conference record and owns an 8-10 overall mark. The Golden Eagles are currently in eighth place at 2-5, and bring a 4-14 overall record into Thursday's action.

In the men's contest, the Golden Eagles look to win back-to-back games when they challenge the league-leading Governors. Austin Peay comes into the game in sole possession of first place in the OVC with a 6-1 conference record, while Tech is in a three-way tie for sixth place at 3-4.

Thursday's game will pit the two top coaches in the OVC against one another. Dave Loos of Austin Peay ranks first among all active league coaches for wins in against OVC rivals with 192 in his 19 seasons. Tech's Mike Sutton ranks second in the league in conference victories with 69 in seven seasons.

APSU won both games last year over Tech, and took a narrow 65-63 edge in the 128 games played in the all-time series between the two schools.

Following the doubleheader at APSU, the Tech teams motor to Nashville to take on Tennessee State in a doubleheader Saturday evening. The road stretch continues next week with games at Eastern Illinois and Southeast Missouri.
