Golden Eagles take on Lipscomb for first time in program history

The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team will hit the road for the first time in the young 2008-09 season Tuesday when it travels to Nashville, Tenn. to take on the Lipscomb Lady Bisons, as the two teams get together for the first ever meeting.

Both teams come into the game with 0-1 records after dropping their season openers. Tech hosted No. 10 Louisville in its season opener on Nov. 15, and fell to the Cardinals 82-49.

The Golden Eagles were led by freshman Krystal Stirrup, who scored a team-high 15 points, and shared the team high with five rebounds. Stirrup also grabbed three steals, and was the second highest vote-getter for Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week.

Tech was haunted by Louisville's Angel McCoughtry, who filled up the stat sheet with 29 points, 13 rebounds, six steals and three assists.

The Golden Eagles put together an 11-2 run six minutes into the second half to pull within 12, before Louisville pulled away for good.

The Lady Bisons dropped their season opener at Austin Peay, one of Tech's OVC rivals. Lipscomb was led by Jilian Partin, who notched a double-double against the Lady Govs, with 12 rebounds and 11 points.

Tuesday's game tips off at 6 p.m., and is the first game of a double-header, with the school's men's teams facing off in the second game.
