Softball team makes tails wag at Bark in the Park

ALGOOD, Tenn. -- The weather was brisk, and dog lovers were bundled up in sweatshirts and jackets, but dogs and their owners couldn't have had a better time at the ninth annual Bark in the Park Saturday afternoon. The Friends of Cookeville/ Putnam County Animals hosted the event and the Tech softball team ran one of the most popular activities: the bag chase.

In the back corner of the park, a line of dogs were jumping at the anticipation of chasing a plastic bag. It may sound miniscule, but chasing the bag was the highlight to many of the dogs. The softball team had a bag rigged up to a wire track, which propelled the bag around the ground, constantly out of the dogs reach.

The dogs would chase the bag as the girls kept the entrance blocked and kept waiting dogs and their owners entertained. The team prevented any unwanted contact between the dogs and also had a chance to run with the dogs and keep them interested in the bag.

It was a great event which helped bring Tech's fall season to a close. The Golden Eagles travel to Chattanooga for their last Fall double header of 2012. Tech will face Chattanooga state at 1 p.m.
