Tech men prepare for Grover Page Classic

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Tech men's golf team will look to rebound from its disappointing start to the 2012 spring season when it kicks off play Monday at the Grover Page Classic.

The Golden Eagles, who have high hopes to contend for an Ohio Valley Conference title this season, finished 17th out of 18 teams in their first outing of the spring at the Samford Intercollegiate.

If history is any indication, the Grover Page Classic may be just what the doctor ordered for Tech. The Golden Eagles finished third out of 15 teams at the event a season ago and Tyler Cassetty placed second individually, the highest finish of his career.

Like last year's event, this year's tournament will be held at Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tenn. The course will play to a par-72 and is 6,778 yards in length with tree-lined fairways.

In addition to Tech and the host club, UT Martin, the field consists of Bethel, Jackson State, John A. Logan, Lipscomb, Morehead State, Murray State, Nicholls State, Southern Illinois, Tennessee State and Union.

The tournament will consist of three 18-hole rounds with 36 holes slated for Monday and a final round of 18 scheduled for Tuesday.
