COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech men's basketball team continues its month-long stretch away from the comfort of the Hooper Eblen Center with a Wednesday night tilt at North Alabama in Florence, Ala.
Tip is set for 6:00 p.m. CT at CB&S Bank Arena. The action can be followed live via radio with Roger Ealey on the call on 106.1 The Eagle while video coverage of the contest will be provided on ESPN+.
Wednesday's match-up marks just the fifth in program history between Tech and North Alabama, with the series tied at 2-2. The two sides split last year's home-and-home series, each picking up a victory on its home floor.
The Lions topped the Cookeville crew in Florence last November, an 86-71 decision powered by a huge second half from the home squad. The Golden Eagles answered back to pick up a 70-67 victory in December in the Hoop, closing the contest out with an 11-0 run over the final four minutes of action.
North Alabama enters the contest at 5-4, following a 20-point road loss at Wofford on Sunday afternoon. The Lions opened the season 3-0, picking up a 73-57 win at Air Force to open the year, a 94-58 drubbing of Point in their home opener, and an 87-69 blowout win over UT Martin in Florence.
Tech heads into the match-up following its toughest loss of the season, an 87-56 defeat in Nashville at the hands of Vanderbilt. The Golden Eagles made just 12 field goals from inside the 3-point arc, using five makes from distance in the opening half to stay in the fight.
Senior forward Rodney Johnson Jr. led the Golden Eagles with 11 points on the day, finishing 5-for-9 from the floor in 23 minutes of action. Sophomore guard Kyle Layton contributed nine points with a pair of treys and a 3-for-3 showing at the charity stripe.
Junior guard Jaylon Johnson added nine points and a team-high three steals to the mix, tacking on five rebounds. Junior forward Daniel Egbuniwe chipped in seven points, five boards, two dimes, three steals, and three blocks in just 21 minutes of play.
Junior guard Ray Glasgow provided seven points and three rebounds off the bench while junior center David Craig finished the day with a team-high six rebounds and six points. Junior guard Grant Slatten tallied five points off the bench as well.
