COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech men's basketball team's home contest against Western Carolina Tuesday evening will represent International Night, celebrating international students at the University.
Boasting four international student-athletes this season, the Golden Eagle program has been represented by at least one player from a nation other than the United States in 13 of the past 14 seasons. More than 20 international student-athletes have competed for the Tech men's squad since 1983.
Donning the purple and gold in 2023-24 while representing their home countries are sophomore forward Jerome Beya (Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo), sophomore center David Craig (Johannesburg, South Africa), sophomore guard Josiah Davis (Kithcener, Ontario), and junior guard Bogdan Zimonjic (Belgrade, Serbia).
An initiative by Tech head coach John Pelphrey with collaboration and support from TTU Athletics and Pamela Etheridge and the International Friends organization, more than 40 flags from various countries around the globe will be displayed around the upper balcony of the Hoop. All Tennessee Tech intentional students, as well as international members of the community, are encouraged to attend and show their support.
