COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – There are plenty of events surrounding Tennessee Tech's football game on Saturday against UT Martin.
Saturday is Public Safety and Military Appreciation Night with free admission to those wearing military/public safety uniforms or with a valid military/public safety ID. Stop by any Tucker Stadium ticket booth to get your free ticket.
The Tech Army ROTC has organized a public display of an Army National Guard Black Hawk helicopter with its crew there to talk about and answer questions as fans will be able to look around the helicopter. That display will be held on the football practice field on the south side of the Hooper Eblen Center by Willow Avenue, starting at approximately 3:30 p.m.
Putnam County and the City of Cookeville emergency services will have public safety vehicles on display in the lot south of the Hooper Eblen Center.
In celebration of Tech football alum Jake Hoot's run on NBC's The Voice, he will be a visible figure at Saturday's game as he will lead the Golden Eagle Walk through the 98.5 KISS FM Tailgate Park at 3:45 p.m. He will then perform the National Anthem pregame and participate in the coin toss. Hoot will follow that up with a performance of Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" at halftime before the Golden Eagle Marching Band takes the field.
The festivities begin as the 98.5 KISS FM Tailgate Park opens at 3 p.m. This week's act on the stage is Rigid Class – performing for 12 years, the band features influences from Robert Johnson to Green Day and strives to bring back what they feel music has lost, a feel of 'genuine, honest and pure straight-forward Rock and Roll.'
Kickoff for Saturday's UTM-TTU game is set for 6:05 p.m.
