Start times announced for 2019 Tech football home games

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech football team will see three evening games and three daytime games in the confines of Tucker Stadium in the 2019 season as the program announced its start times Sunday.

Tech opens the 2019 home slate on August 31 with a visit from former Ohio Valley Conference foe Samford for a 6 p.m. game. The Golden Eagles are 10-12 all-time against the Bulldogs, with Tech falling 59-52 at home against Samford in their last meeting on Oct. 27, 2007.

Virginia-Wise comes into Tucker Stadium for a 6 p.m. contest on September 14. That game is also Family Weekend and Running of the Freshmen. It is the first meeting between the Golden Eagles and the Cavaliers.

Tech's final evening matchup of the home slate comes on October 12 as the Golden Eagles host UT Martin for a 6 p.m. contest. The Skyhawks trail the series 19-16-1, but have won the last six contests.

On October 26, Tech entertains Austin Peay for a 1:30 p.m. game. The Golden Eagles lead the series 32-20, winning seven of the last 10 meetings.

November 9 is Homecoming at Tucker Stadium, hosting Jacksonville State at 1:30 p.m. in the Golden Eagles' 89th Homecoming contest. Tech is 47-40-1 on Homecoming, winning four of its last five. The Golden Eagles are 6-16 against the Gamecocks with JSU winning the last seven.

Tech closes out its 2019 home slate with a visit from Tennessee State on November 23 in a 1:30 p.m. kickoff. Tech is 13-19 against State, with the Golden Eagles taking three of the last four meetings.

The future looks bright for the Golden Eagles as HERO Sports recently ranked Tech's 2019 signing class as the second-best class in the OVC and the 32nd best in the Football Championship Subdivision, while also rating wide receiver Justin Oden as the No. 4 signee in the FCS. Canadian Football Chat also ranked defensive lineman Kail Dava No. 12 and offensive lineman Taylor Burns No. 16 in its CFC100 rankings.
