Tech football opens camp Friday with rookie sessions

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With the Ohio Valley Conference's football media day in the books, now the league's teams focus on getting ready for the 2017 campaign.
Such is the case at Tennessee Tech as the newcomers report back to campus this morning for orientation and meetings. The rookies will then complete a mini-camp from Friday to Wednesday before the veteran players report back on Sunday and practice for the first time on Monday. The two units will reunite on Thursday.

Tennessee Tech head football coach Marcus Satterfield likes the opportunity.

"Because we do have a lot of young players," he said, "it just makes sense to give them some days of workouts before we bring in our returning guys. This gives them a chance to learn our brand and our expectation, as well as see what they can do."

And once the camp schedule begins in earnest, it will be full steam ahead for the Golden Eagles as they get set for their season opener on Aug. 31 against Western Illinois.

Practice sessions will be closed to the public with a few exceptions, including coaches and Tech football alumni. There, however, will be some open sessions during the schedule, including the annual Gathering of Eagles event on Aug. 24, one week before the season opener.

Season tickets for Tennessee Tech football are now on sale. Call (931) 372-3940, visit the Hooper Eblen Center ticket office or visit TTUsports.com to order.
