NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Student-athletes from the high school and collegiate level from all over Middle Tennessee filled the Cool Springs Marriott Hotel on Wednesday night as the Middle Tennessee Chapter of the National Football Foundation held its 51st annual awards banquet.

Among those honored was Tech senior Zach Malone, a two-year letterwinner for the Golden Eagles at defensive end. Malone recorded a 3.17 grade point average in engineering technology.

"Zach was an excellent leader for us," said Tech head coach Marcus Satterfield. "A transition year like we had is always tough to handle, but Zach helped us change the culture and pave the way for our direction. There were very few players as dependable and reliable as Zach was for us."

Malone was one of seven university scholar-athletes recognized, along with student-athletes from Austin Peay, Cumberland, Middle Tennessee, Tennessee State, University of the South and Vanderbilt.

The program also recognized 61 high school scholar-athletes as well as 10 other major awards, ranging from courage to inspiration to lifetime achievement and dedication to the sport.
