COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Two Tennessee Tech football players earned recognition for their efforts in this past weekend's 44-16 win over Tennessee State as Nick Madonia and Yeedee Thaenrat were both named Football Championship Subdivision honorable mention players of the week by STATS.

Madonia, who was named the Ohio Valley Conference co-Specialist of the Week after kicking a school-record 57-yard field goal, was 3-for-4 on field goals, scoring 14 points against the Tigers. He also recovered the onside kick that started the scoring drive.

The record was a 42-year-old record, set by Murray Cunningham in 1974, then tied by Ryan Weeks in 1989, at 53-yards.

Madonia's previous career-high was 43 yards, set against Eastern Illinois.

Thaenrat rushed 19 times for 164 yards and a touchdown, then hauled in a 29-yard pass to put together a 193 all-purpose yard day. The 164 rushing yards was the most for a Tech rusher since Darian Stone in 2012 against UT Martin. The 295 rushing yards as a team were the most since beating Cumberland in 2013.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday as they host Murray State in the regular-season finale.
