BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the second time in her young career, Tennessee Tech's Chloe Griffith was honored as the Ohio Valley Conference's Female Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league Thursday afternoon.

The Golden Eagle freshman captured her first career individual medalist honors at the 11th Annual Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, becoming the first Tech women's golfer to win its yearly tournament in Sevierville, Tenn. Her performance led the purple and gold to a runner-up showing among 10 teams in the field.

Leading the event wire-to-wire, Griffith completed the three days of action with a 220 overall to top the field of 60 by five strokes. After firing even-par on day one and following it up with a 76 on day two, she capped the week with a 2-over 73 in the third round, dropping three birdies and 11 pars.

The freshman's impressive victory marked the first by a Golden Eagle women's golfer since Hollee Sadler took home a first-place finish at the Starmount Forest Fall Classic back on Oct. 4, 2016.

Griffith represents one of two Golden Eagles to capture OVC Female Golfer of the Week honors twice this season, along with senior Gittle Sciolis. The pair became the first set of Tech teammates to earn OVC Female Golfer of the Week in the same year since 2014-15 behind Sciolis' first honor back in October.

Next on tap for the purple and gold is the Golfweek Intercollegiate from Monday, Apr. 1 through Wednesday, Apr. 3. Play will take place at the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawley's Island, S.C.
