BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the first time in her career, Tennessee Tech's Gittle Sciolis was honored as the Ohio Valley Conference's Female Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league Wednesday morning.

The Golden Eagle veteran turned in a career week competing at the Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, Tenn., placing third among 75 golfers at the Terrier Intercollegiate. Boasting her highest career finish in her fifth season, Sciolis also picked up the first All-Tournament honor since her arrival in Cookeville.

A native of Bremen, Ga., the senior kicked off the event with a 2-over 74 to open play. Sciolis topped that showing in the second round, firing a career-low round of 2-under 70 to move into third in the tournament standings. She held strong to the position following a 1-over 73 in the third and final round, shattering her own previous 54-hole record by nine strokes with a 217.

Sciolis joined freshman Chloe Griffth as a member of the Golden Eagle squad to capture OVC Female Golfer of the Week honors this season. The pair became the first set of Tech teammates to earn OVC Female Golfer of the Week in the same year since 2014-15.

Tech will return from winter break and kick off the spring season at the Oyster Shuck Match Play event, hosted by The Citadel at Charleston Municipal Golf Course in Charleston, S.C. Monday, Feb. 12 and Tuesday, Feb. 13.
