COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team kicks off the spring portion of the 2023-24 season with a unique trip to Charleston, S.C. for The Citadel's Oyster Shuck Match Play event. The Golden Eagles will compete with seven other programs in a match-play event at Charleston Municipal Golf Course Monday and Tuesday.

OYSTER SHUCK MATCH PLAY: Feb. 12-13, 2024 – 36 holes (36 Monday, 18 Tuesday), located at the par-72, 5,810-yard Charleston Municipal Golf Course in Charleston, S.C. Play will begin for the Golden Eagles with a quarterfinal match-up against Western Carolina Monday morning. A second match will be held Monday afternoon and a final match will be contested on Tuesday.

GOLDEN EAGLE LINEUP: Competing for the Golden Eagles are freshman Chloe Griffith, senior Gittle Sciolis, senior Ainsley Simms, sophomore Kaydi Rhodes, and junior Reagan Stuke.

THE COMPETITION: The eight-team field consists of host The Citadel, as well as Purdue Fort Wayne, Samford, Tennessee Tech, Western Carolina, and Wofford.

THOUGHTS FROM HEAD COACH AMANDA SMITH: "We rarely have tournaments where we get to have match play. It is a totally different style of golf. We have been practicing what that looks like to each individual and how they handle the difference in play. It will be fun to start off the season with this event because it is all about confidence and beating your opponent, then moving to the next hole. We are excited to take on match play and see how it propels us forward into the spring season."
