Griffith collects first career OVC Female Golfer of the Week honors

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the first time in her young career, Tennessee Tech's Chloe Griffith was honored as the Ohio Valley Conference's Female Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league Thursday morning.

For the third time in four tournaments this season, Griffith earned the top spot among the Golden Eagle lineup, tying for eighth place at the UNCG Collegiate Tuesday afternoon. The rookie carded a 2-over 218 for her two days of work at the Grandover Resort West Course in Greensboro, N.C.

For Griffith, it marked her second top-10 finish in as many events. The Huntington Beach, Calif. native registered rounds of 74, 71, 73 for at the UNCG Collegiate, boasting four birdies each in her final two rounds.

Griffth became the first Golden Eagle freshman to capture OVC Female Golfer of the Week honors since at least 2004. The youngster currently leads the Tech squad and ranks seventh in the league with a 75.00 scoring average this season.

Tech will wrap up its fall slate in less than two weeks, traveling south to Spartanburg, S.C. for the Terrier Intercollegiate. The Golden Eagles will compete at The Carolina Country Club Monday, Oct. 23 through Tuesday, Oct. 24.
