CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team concluded action at the rain-shortened Oyster Shuck Match Play event Tuesday afternoon, wrapping up its first event of the spring with a close loss to App State, 3.5-15.
With competition at Charleston Municipal Golf Course in Charleston shortened to two rounds instead of three thanks to inclement weather and poor course conditions Monday afternoon, Samford and Western Carolina were declared co-champions of the event with two wins each.
Senior Gittle Sciolis ended the two-day event with a pair of victories in her belt, securing her second with a 3&2 decision over App State's Makena Dubois. Sophomore Kaydi Rhodes delivered the other scoring opportunity for Tech, securing a tie with Ekaterina Prokhorova for half a point.
Next on the schedule for the Golden Eagles is a visit to Huntsville, Ala. for the three-round Huntsville.org Intercollegiate. Hosted by Samford on the Highlands Course at the Robert Trent Jones Trail at Hampton Cove, the event will run Monday, Mar. 4 through Wednesday, Mar. 6.
