Tech jumps into second with one round left at Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – A day full of challenges with wind and cold weather couldn't keep the Tennessee Tech women's golf team down, as the Golden Eagles jumped up a position following round two of play at the Highlands Course at Sevierville Golf Club as part of the 11th Annual Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate. 

The Cookeville crew climbed one spot on the leaderboard behind its second straight round of 312, posting a 624 to rank second among the 10 teams in the field. Bowling Green entered the final day of action leading the way with a 613. 

Tech's Chloe Griffith continued to pace the field of 60 golfers for the second day in a row, backing up a 71 in round one with a 76 in the second round. The freshman compiled a two-round tally of 147 thanks to three birdies on the day.

Senior Ainsley Simms produced a strong performance to leap up the leaderboard, ending the day ranked third behind a composite score of 151. The veteran carded four birdies on her way to a 2-over 73. 

Competing as an individual, rookie Lexus Julian continued her strong play by tallying an 80 to tie for 13th thanks to 10 pars. She sat at 158 with one round to play. Also taking part as an individual, Sydney Branson turned in a 79 on her way to a 160 total for both days, tying for 19th overall.

Kaydi Rhodes added an 81 to the mix with 12 pars, totaling 161 overall to tie for 23rd. Senior Gittle Sciolis followed with an 82 on the day, adding to her 82 from Sunday for a 165 and tie for 29th.

Tied for 34th entering the final day of action, Regan Stuke ended the day with an 85 to tie for 34th with a 168. Lydia Baker rounded out the Tech participants, entering an 86 onto the scorecard for a 176 while competing as an individual.

The third and final round of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate will kick off with tee times off the first and 10th holes, starting at 9:00 a.m. CT.
