MOBILE, Ala. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf wrapped up its first round of the 2023-24 campaign ninth at the USA Intercollegiate Saturday afternoon, completing the first 18 holes of competition at Crossings Course at the RTJ Trail at Magnolia Grove.
The Golden Eagles posted a 312 overall on the first of three days of action. ULM held the top spot among the 10 competing teams, firing an 11-under 277. Warhawk Daniela Campillo led all individuals, turning in a 5-under 67.
Kicking off her senior season, Ainsley Simms paced the Tech lineup on Saturday, carding a 3-over 75 to rank 28th among the 55 golfers in competition. The Golden Eagles veteran tallied three birdies on the day, second on the squad in the category.
Making her collegiate debut, Chloe Griffith followed two shots back of her teammate, totaling a 77 in her first round in the purple and gold. The rookie piled up four birdies in her first performance, leading the team.
Fifth-year senior Gittle Sciolis concluded the day with a 79, capturing a birdie on the par-4 11th hole. Junior Reagan Stuke was next among the Tech scorers, finishing with a 79 and 11 pars.
Also competing for the first time at the collegiate level was Cookeville native Lexus Julian. The freshman rounded out the Golden Eagle lineup with an 83, capturing her first career birdie on the par-3 eighth.
The second round of the USA Intercollegiate will begin at 8:30 a.m. CT for the purple and gold as part of a shotgun start.
