Tech maintains position after round two of Huntsville.org Intercollegiate

OWENS CROSSROADS, Ala. – Battling adverse weather conditions on Tuesday, the Tennessee Tech women's golf team maintained its positioning on the leaderboard at the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate while competing at the Highlands Course at the Robert Trent Jones Trail at Hampton Cove.

The Golden Eagles delivered a score of 311 for round two of the event, tying for fourth place with one day left of action with a composite 609. Host Samford and Troy both ended the second day of play with scores of 609 as well. 

Lipscomb stayed on top of the rankings, firing 297 for a two-day total of 585 to lead by 17 shots. The Bisons' Lauren Thompson remained atop the individual leaderboard with a two-round score of 141 after presenting a 74 on the day.

For the majority of the day, Ainsley Simms was a beacon of consistency for the purple and gold, carding a 3-over 75 to move up to third place among the 83 golfers in the field. The senior contributed a birdie while making a whopping 14 pars in her second trip around the links, totaling 146.

Rookie Chloe Griffith climbed her way up to a tie for 13th through the opening two rounds, also delivering a 3-over 75 on Tuesday. The freshman racked up 13 pars to go along with a birdie while bringing her two-day total to 151. 

Tying for 28th, sophomore Kaydi Rhodes secured a birdie and 10 pars while registering an 80 to sit at 155 with one round to go. Senior Gittle Sciolis ended the day tied for 42nd with a composite 157 after turning in an 81 with one birdie.

Rounding out the Tech lineup, junior Reagan Stuke tied for 57th, putting together an 84 with a birdie. She ended the second day of action with a 162 overall.

The third and final round of the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate is slated to kick off with tee times beginning at 9:00 a.m. CT. The Golden Eagles will feature tee times from 9:00 to 9:36.
