DICKSON, Tenn. -- Sophomore Brandy VanEtten had a solid first day of play, but the opening round of the Ohio Valley Conference women's golf tournament didn't go quite the way Tennessee Tech had hoped and the Golden Eagles find themselves tied for sixth place with two rounds remaining.

VanEtten was the lone Tech player to score in the 70s Sunday at GreyStone Golf Course, shooting a 77 to put her into 11th place.

The Golden Eagles will head into Monday's second round with just four players, after sophomore Katy Beth Glover withdrew because of an injury.

Jacksonville State has a three stroke lead in the tournament after round one. Jax State combined to shoot a round of 296 on Sunday, just eight over par, and is three shots up on defending champion Morehead State (299). Murray State is 11 shots off the lead in third place (307).

The teams are rounded out by Eastern Kentucky (310), Austin Peay (316), Tennessee Tech (330) and Eastern Illinois (330). Tennessee State is playing just three golfers this week and will not calculate in the team standings.

Individually Jacksonville State sophomore Lourdes Lopez Caballo has a one-shot lead after firing a 1-under round of 71 on Sunday. She fought the tough conditions by birding holes No. 11, 13 and 14 on the backside and was the only golfer under par on the day.

Sophomore Amber Shepherd and junior Amanda Randolph finished the first day tied for 28th place with rounds of 84, while Glover shot an 85 and junior Katherine Bell carded an 86 to finish the day in 34th place.

Bell will be the first off the tee Monday, listed for an 8:10 a.m. tee time.

Fans can follow along via live scoring provided by the Ohio Valley Conference.
