COOKEVI LLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Tech men’s and women’s golf teams have each added a name to their 2011-12 rosters.

Taylor Diegel (Knoxville, Tenn.) has signed with the men’s club while Madalyn Everts (Ooltewah, Tenn.) will bring her talent to the Tech women's team.

Diegel, the son of Craig and Peggy Diegel, is a 2011 graduate of Farragut High School where he was a four-year letterman in golf under coaches Scott McKenzie and Jonathan Cox as well as a two-year basketball letterman who played shooting guard under coaches Donald Dodgen and Chris Cool.

He was a first-team honoree by the Knoxville News-Sentinel PrepXtra in 2009 and took second team honors in 2010. Diegel was no stranger to success off the course as well, earning the TSSAA Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Award and TSSAA Student-Athlete Award.

During his career at Farragut, Diegel helped lead the Admirals to two Class AAA state championships in 2008 and 2009, his sophomore and junior seasons. His teams won district and regional titles in each of his four high school seasons. As a senior in 2010, he averaged 73.6 strokes per 18 holes in national, regional and high school tournaments.

At Tech, Diegel plans to major in mechanical engineering.

Madalyn Everts

The daughter of Bob and Peg Everts, Madalyn Everts is a 2011 graduate of Notre Dame High School, where she lettered in golf for four seasons under coach Jeff Fisher.

Everts brought home a fifth-place finish at the TSSAA Class A-AA State Golf Championships as a junior in 2009 and also took third-place regional finishes in both her junior and senior seasons. She was named Most Improved on her team as a junior.

During her tenure with the Lady Irish, Notre Dame was a two-time regional champion.

In high school, Everts was a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and was named to the Dean’s List. At Tech, she plans to major in mechanical engineering.
