COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team will play the next tournament of a successful fall season this week when the Golden Eagles compete at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate in Hopkinsville, Ky.

The tournament consists of 54 holes – two 18-hole rounds on Monday followed by an 18-hole final round on Tuesday. Monday's play begins with an 8 a.m. shotgun start with continuous play to complete the 36 holes. Tuesday's play begins with a single shotgun start at 9 a.m.

The event will be held at the Links at Novadell in Hopkinsville, Ky., just north of Austin Peay's campus in Clarksville, Tenn. The course will play to a par of 72 and a yardage of 7,132. A links-style course, the Links at Novadell is challenging because of the winds that usually blow through the flat course.

The Golden Eagles will compete in a field of 16 teams, including host Austin Peay, Belmont, Binghamton, Eastern Kentucky, Jacksonville State, Lipscomb, Morehead State, Samford, SIU Edwardsville, South Dakota, Tennessee State, Troy, UT Martin, Western Illinois and Wright State.

"In light of our play last week at UT-Martin's tournament in Paris, I'm so excited to head to Clarksville to compete in Austin Peay's tournament," said TTU head coach Polk Brown. "This is always one of the best fields Tech golf competes in all year, so it will be great to see how last week's finish carries over into this event. We have some guys who are playing some great golf right now, and I believe the team as a whole is making substantial progress. It will be a fun and exciting couple of days."

One Golden Eagle playing excellent golf as of late is senior Tyler Cassetty. Cassetty shot a second-round 68 en route to a fourth-place individual finish at the Skyhawk Classic a week ago, finishing three strokes out of second place. It was the second consecutive event in which he has finished in the top five – he took third at the MSU Invitational with a 67-73-69=209.

At the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, Tech will play with a lineup of Cassetty, Greg Kitts, Mason Griffin, Taylor Diegel and Travis Ramsey. Playing as individuals will be Lee Maxwell and Maxx Verble.

The Golden Eagles have one final meet remaining on the fall schedule after the APSU outing, a meet added to the schedule recently. Tech will wrap up the fall season Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate, a tourney to be hosted by Western Carolina University at the Saphire Valley Country Club.
