BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Sophomore Amber Shepherd and junior Amanda Randolph wrapped up play Tuesday as individual entries at the Samford Intercollegiate. The duo were the only two members of the Tennessee Tech women's golf team able to compete due to illness and injuries to the balance of the roster.

Shepherd closed play with an 80 Tuesday, finishing in a tie for 31st place with a 54-hole total of 235. Randolph ran into trouble Tuesday with a final round 91, and closed play in 55th place with a 253 total.

Troy University won the team crown by shooting the lowest round of the final day, a 301 that allowed the Trojan women to finish with a 914 and leap past four teams including runnerup Middle Tennessee (915), Samford (916), Florida Southern (917) and Louisiana-Monroe (922). The field included nine teams and 60 players.

The Golden Eagles are hoping to get a full squad back onto the course in time for the Ohio Valley Conference tournament, scheduled for April 22-24 in Dickson, Tenn.
