Flat, links-style course awaits Golden Eagles at F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate

Tech will play 18 holes Monday, final 18 Tuesday

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — With the fall schedule winding down, the Tennessee Tech women's golf team will head to a site at which they have enjoyed past success on Monday and Tuesday.

After two weeks off, the Golden Eagles return to action at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate at The Links at Novadell in Hopkinsville, Ky. Tech sophomore Katy Beth Glover played her personal-best round at the Austin Peay-hosted event a season ago, shooting a 79.

"I’m very excited about heading to Austin Peay’s tournament," said head coach Polk Brown. "As one of our bigger rivals in the OVC, it will be fun to go to their place and see if we can give ourselves an opportunity to win. I always enjoyed competing in their event, and I know the girls are pumped for it as well. The ladies have worked very hard in the past couple of weeks since their last event, and I look forward to seeing that hard work come to fruition this week."

Tech's lineup will be made up of Amber Shepherd, Brandy VanEtten, Amanda Randolph, Katherine Bell and Madalyn Everts. Katy Beth Glover will play as an individual.

Tech is coming off a 20th place finish in a strong field at the Great Smokies Intercollegiate, hosted by Western Carolina at Waynesville Inn Golf Resort and Spa, on Sept. 10-11. The Golden Eagles were led by freshman Madalyn Everts, who tied her career-best round with a 74 in the final round to finish with a 76-74=150.

The Links at Novadell, located across the state line from Austin Peay's campus in neighboring Hopkinsville, plays to a par of 72 and a yardage of between 5,003 to 6,886 yards. It meanders across rolling farmland and features large greens. Water comes into play on nine holes in the form of four lakes and several creeks.

The course's defenses are the wind that blows across the flat terrain and the fescue grass that flanks the exterior of each hole.

The F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate begins Monday with an 18-hole first round and concludes Tuesday 18 holes in the final round.

Results will be posted on TTUSports.com as they become available.
