BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Micayla Rennick will head into this weekend's OVC meet touting yet another piece of hardware recognizing her incredible senior season of collegiate track & field.

The senior has been named the OVC Female Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year, the Ohio Valley Conference announced on Thursday.

Rennick's award is especially significant, as she is the first female runner in the conference to win both the indoor and outdoor athlete of the year awards in the same season since Tennessee State's Dominique Holmes did so back in 2008.

She is also the first Golden Eagle to win athlete of the year for outdoors (and was the first to win it for indoors back in February).

Rennick has remained dominant through the outdoor season, leading the conference in the 800m run (2:09.37), 5000m run (16:30.27) and 10,000m run (34:25.22) and ranking second in the 1500m run (4:20.92) by less than .9 seconds.

In the NCAA East qualifying region, her 10,000m time ranks 25th, while her 1500m time ranks 35th.

Rennick has also broken various outdoor school records and was named adidas® OVC Female Track Athlete of the Week once.

Starting today, No. 14-regionally ranked Tech will host the 2018 OVC Outdoor Track & Field Championship, which will run through Saturday, May 12 in Cookeville. The Golden Eagles look to complete a sweep of both the indoor and outdoor conference titles and also qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary at the end of the month.
