BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – With her standout indoor season coming to a close, Micayla Rennick has been named the OVC Female Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, the Ohio Valley Conference announced on Thursday.

Rennick's honor is especially historic for Tech, as the Golden Eagles have never before had a women's track or field athlete receive athlete of the year in the indoor or outdoor seasons.

Not many distance runners around the country can say they've had better indoor seasons than Rennick – the senior has broken her own mile and 3000m school records multiple times this year and has been named the adidas® OVC Female Track Athlete of the Week twice.

Rennick's times have consistently been among the best in the Ohio Valley Conference this season. She currently ranks first in both the 800m dash (2:10.67) and mile (4:39.69 converted), second in the 3000m run (9:30.49 converted) and fifth in the 5000m (17:12.98). She was also a part of Tech's distance medley relay squad that ranks first in the conference (11:39.32). Her mile time stands at 28th-fastest in NCAA Division I indoor track this season.

Tech, ranked 10th in the USTFCCCA South Region, will compete in the OVC Indoor Championships from Friday, Feb. 23 to Saturday, Feb. 24 at Eastern Illinois. Rennick and the rest of Tech's DMR squad will look to defend their event title from 2017.
