COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech women's track & field head coach Wayne Angel was named the Ohio Valley Conference Women's Outdoor Coach of the Year following the Golden Eagles' first-ever team title at the 2018 OVC Outdoor Championship on Saturday.

It marks Angel's first-career coach of the year honor for the outdoor season. He has won back-to-back indoor honors, most recently in February after leading Tech to its first indoor track & field championship.

The Golden Eagles won the 2018 outdoor title by 50 points with the help of seven event wins and eight additional runner-up and third-place finishes. Tech's wins in the 1500m run, 400m hurdles and 4x400m relay were the program's first in those events in OVC history.

Tech is now one of seven OVC programs (Eastern Kentucky, Murray State, Middle Tennessee, Southeast Missouri, Tennessee State and Eastern Illinois) to sweep the indoor and outdoor championships in a single season.

Senior Micayla Rennick earned Athlete of the Championship honors, closing the meet with a pair of wins in the 10,000m and 1500m runs and runner-up finishes in the 800m and 5000m runs. Rennick had also won OVC Female Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year just before the start of the OVC meet and received the same awards in indoors.
