JACKSONVILLE, Ala. -- The Tennessee Tech tennis team extended its Ohio Valley Conference regular-season winning streak to 11 consecutive matches, and improved to 3-0 this season in league play with a 5-2 win Saturday at Jacksonville State.

Alex Arovin and Alberto Esteban grabbed a 6-3 win at the No. 1 doubles spot, and Eduardo Mena and Marcos Bernardes claimed the No. 2 doubles bout by the exact same score, putting a quick end to the doubles portion of the day and giving the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead in the match.

The singles contests clicked off in Tech's favor in four of the six positions to clinch the victory. Tech earned straight set wins at No. 3 and No. 4. Esteban defeated Mathias Chaim, 6-2, 7-5, at No. 3, while Guillermo Nicolas posted a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 4 over Vinicio Hadlich.

Mena and Bernardes finished off the Gamecocks with three-set victories. Mena beat Pedro Wagner at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, while Bernardes posted a No. 5 singles win over Liu Shao Chun, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

Jacksonville State got a 6-0, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles when JAryd Reese topped Alex Arovin, and added a 1-6, 6-4, 10-8 win at No. 6 singles with Andres Gomexz outlasting Jorge Alfonzo.

The Golden Eagles return home for their next two matches. Tech will welcome Morehead State on Friday (April 1) and Eastern Kentucky on Saturday (April 2). Both matches begin at 1 p.m., and admission is free.
