WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.—The second weekend tournament of the fall season sends the Tennessee Tech tennis team to West Lafayette, Ind., to compete in a three-day competition at the Purdue Invitational. Participants will compete at the Schwartz Tennis Center and the Purdue Rec Sports Center Tennis Courts. 

The Golden Eagles will be one of 15 teams with players participating in the invite. The tournament will feature opponents from Ball State, Butler, Chicago State, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), Lewis University, Louisville, Marquette, Southern Illinois, Tennessee, Toledo, University of Indianapolis and Wright State.

The tournament will consist of several 16-player compass draws for singles and doubles, with each participant guaranteed three singles and three doubles matches (weather permitting). The invitational is set up in six flights of singles and three flights of doubles. Two rounds of singles from each flight and one round of doubles will be played on Friday, and then the finals for each flight will be featured on Sunday.

Representing the Golden Eagles at the tournament are Junior Guerrero, Carlos Tajes, Guille Nicolas and Jorge Alfonzo.

Alfonzo and Tajes are Tech's highest entries, playing in the Flight C singles draw. Alfonzo opens play Friday against Ari Gerstein of Butler, while Tajes gets things underway Friday with a match against Renan Hamayam, a Purdue sophomore.

In Flight D singles Nicolas will square off first with Andrea Morlet, a sophomore from the University of Indianapolis. Tech's entry in Flight E singles. Guerrero opens against freshman Reid Teatsorth of Toledo.

Alfonzo and Nicolas will compete in the Flight A doubles field, meting the Butler duo of Gerstein and Mikheil Khmiadashvili. In Flight B doubles Tjes and Guerrero are paired up first against Gabriel Niculescu and Gonzalo Martinez from Chicago State.
