ATHENS, Ga. — Fall season sports are at full force as the Tennessee Tech tennis team opens it's season at the Southern Intercollegiate Championship at the University of Georgia. The Friday-through-Sunday tournament is divided into three singles divisions and two doubles divisions, with no-ad scoring.
The tournament features teams from Arkansas, Armstrong State, Barry, Clemson, College of Charleston, Columbus State, Davidson, East Tennessee State, Eastern Kentucky, Florida Atlantic, Georgia, Georgia College, Georgia Gwinnett, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State, Kentucky, Lander, Liberty, Lipscomb, Memphis, Mercer, Mississippi State, Saint Leo, Stetson, Tennessee Tech, Virginia Tech and Winthrop.
Representing Tech in the Division II singles bracket, Nicolas will face Barry University's Franco Echenique with first serve slated for 1:30 p.m., while teammate Esteban will face Columbus State's Benedikt Wilde, after a first round bye, at 1 p.m.
Arovin will team up with Esteban in the Division I doubles bracket after a first round bye to face the winner of the Kennesaw/Lipscomb match, while Mena and Nicolas will play the duo of Echenique and Fabian Pronnet from Barry on Saturday.
