Fans invited to hear head coach give the “inside” scoop on Golden Eagles

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Fans of Tennessee Tech football who would like to go “inside” the Golden Eagles each week with head coach Watson Brown are invited as he hosts a weekly Football Insiders’ Lunch each Monday during the 2011 season.

The 2011 season marks the third year for the Football Insiders’ Lunch, and the event has grown each of the past two years. An informal gathering with the popular head coach, Brown talks about his team and shows video footage with a detailed breakdown of several key plays from each week's game. It proved to be an extremely popular feature as the veteran coach pointed out aspects of plays that many fans don’t see while watching the games.   

“I really enjoy showing the video and breaking down the plays, and I think the fans who come to the lunch see the game from a new perspective,” Brown said. “They ask questions and it is really a lot of fun.”

Now in his fifth season as Golden Eagle head coach, Brown will talk each week about the previous contest and take a look forward to the next opponent. The lunches feature a relaxed setting each Monday in the Eagles’ Nest in Eblen Center.

 “These lunches are meant to be a gathering place for friends of Tech football in a comfortable, casual atmosphere, and we’ll just spend the hour talking about Golden Eagle football,” Brown said. “I’ll try to answer any questions fans have about the team, the games, and Tech football, and try to keep everyone up-to-date on the program.”

Because the initial Monday of the season falls on Labor Day, the first lunch of the 2011 season will be held on Monday, Sept. 12, following Tech’s games at Iowa and against Maryville College. It will be held every Monday through Nov. 21, from 12 to 1 p.m., a total of 11 weekly lunches.

Fans can reserve an Insiders’ Lunch ticket to the entire year for $110 per person, a cost of just $10 per week for the 11 weekly events. Fans ordering a ticket to the entire season of the Insiders’ Lunch can include it with their season ticket order, or purchase the meals separately.

The meals will be catered by Chartwell’s, Tech’s on-campus food service.
