Golden Eagles to take on Volunteers in Knoxville

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --- After winning the final game of its series against Evansville, the Tennessee Tech baseball team will look to keep things rolling Tuesday as it travels to Tennessee.

The first pitch is set for 6 p.m. and can be viewed regionally on Fox Sports South.

This will be the 95th meeting between the Golden Eagles and the Volunteers, with UT leading the all-time series 63-30-1. In their last meeting back in the 2010 season, the Volunteers came away with the 9-3 win. The last time TTU defeated Tennessee was back in the 2008 season when the Golden Eagles posted a 9-7 win.

So far this season, the Golden Eagles have been led by Zach Stephens on offense. Batting .436 on the season, Stephens has tallied a team-high 15 RBI, to go along with a team-leading five home runs. In Tech's recent series against Evansville, Stephens batted .500 and drove in five runs.

Evan Frazier also had a good series against Evansville as he drove in and scored four runs, while maintaining a .462 batting average.

Currently sitting at 10-5 on the season, the Volunteers are currently on a two-game losing streak, with both losses coming to Louisiana Monroe.

Chris Pierce has been Tennessee's most steady hitter, batting .333 on the season, while scoring a team-high 16 runs. Chris Frits has driven in a club-high 17 runs, while Drew Steckenrider has tallied three home runs.
