COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team will return to action to kick off its spring season Sunday morning, hitting the links of Osprey Point and Oak Point of the Kiawah Island Golf Resort in the three-day Edwin Watts - Kiawah Island Spring Classic in Kiawah Island, S.C.

Tabbed as the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country, the 2016 edition of the Edwin Watts / Kiawah Island Spring Classic has expanded to 41 teams in this year's field and will be played for the second time in its history at Osprey Point at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort on Kiawah Island, S.C. Two courses are used for the three-day, 54-hole tournament including Oak Point.

After 36 holes of play, the Top 20 teams will play for the championship at Osprey Point during the final round, while teams 21-41 will play for a flight championship at Oak Point. Last year, host College of Charleston won the team title carding a three-round score of 886 (+22), which was the second-lowest 54-hold score in tournament history. North Florida finished second with an 891 (+27) and Stetson finished in third with an 897 (+33).

We are extremely blessed to be able to play these courses, and the field is the biggest in the country with over 40 teams. It represents a great way to begin the spring and as a barometer to see where we stand moving forward. We anticipate a very successful showing."
