MURRAY, Ky. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team will wake up Saturday poised for a good fight, heading into the final round of Murray State's Jan Weaver Invitational in the thick of a logjam in the middle of the standings.

After an opening round 323 spotted them in sixth place, the Golden Eagles improved by five shots in the second round but actually slipped one spot in the 13-team standings to seventh.

At 641 through 36 holes, Tech is only nine shots out of third place but just 12 shots above 10th place.

Tourney host Murray State, playing on its home course, holds the two-round lead with a 309-310—619 total, five shots ahead of league rival Morehead State at 312-312—624. Xavier is in third place with scores of 317 and 309 for a 626 total. Southern Illinois (632) and Austin Peay (635) round out the top five.

The second five is led by Akron (640), which had the biggest improvement between rounds, going from a 328 to a 312 to leapfrog ahead of Tech.

The Golden Eagles (641) are seventh, followed by Alabama State (646), Fairleigh Dickinson (649), and Belmont (653).  The final three teams are Omaha (669), Tennessee State (712) and Lindenwood-Belleville (which was disqualified in the second round).

Junior Whitney Robertson paced the Golden Eagles Friday, finishing the day tied for 11th place overall after rounds of 79 and 77 for a 156 total. Freshman Hollee Sadler (in photo), who led the Golden Eagles in the first round with a 78, slipped to an 82 and is in 26th place at 160.

Sophomore Allyson Dunn, named earlier this week as the OVC co-Player of the Week, carded scores of 83 and 79 and is tied for 29th place at 162. Senior Maddi Everts (83=080—163) is 33rd, and freshman Lindsay Miller (89-86—175) is 63rd.

Three Golden Eagles competing as individuals are led by Haley Davidson, who is tied for 21st place with scores of 82 and 77 for a159 total. Anna Cunningham (81-82—163) is 33rd and Megan Williamson (86-85—171) is 53rd.
