SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – Wet turf, cold mist and some Smokey Mountain fog made for a tough first day of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate Monday, with just one player in the field of 74 breaking par in women's play during the opening tour of the Sevierville Golf Club Highlands Course.

With a much-improved weather forecast for Tuesday, the final round is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. ET.

Murray State's Delaney Howson scored a one-under 70 to pace the field, helping her Lady Racer team to a 315 total and a two-shot lead over Marshall (317). Eastern Kentucky (318), West Georgia (319) and Indiana State (320) rounded out the top five among the 12 competing teams.

The second five includes Belmont and Evansville (323) tied for sixth, Austin Peay and Presbyterian (327) tied for eight, and host Tennessee Tech (329). Capping off the field are Northern Kentucky (334), Tennessee State (355) and the Northern Kentucky Second Team (367).

Howson's 70 puts her four shots ahead of Marissa Uradomo from Indiana State and Rachel Thompson of Marshall, tied for second at 74.

Freshman Whitney Robertson, junior Megan Williamson and sophomore Allison Geer all carded scores of 82 to place them in a tie for 25th place as Tech's leaders. Geer recovered from a  front nine score of 45 to post a 37 on the back nine, the team's best nine-hole score.

Junior Maddi Everts is tied for 30th place after shooting 83, while freshman Lydia Triplett is two shots back at 85, placing her in a tie for 41st.

Also competing for coach Polk Brown's team and scoring as an individual, freshman Haley Davidson (photo above) is tied for 56th at 88.
