LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Despite a two-hour time change and playing at one of the tougher golf courses in Las Vegas in the form of the Paiute Golf Resort, the Tennessee Tech women's golf team rebounded nicely Monday morning, ranking second through the first round of the Bison Invitational.
Paving the way for the Golden Eagle success through Round One was freshman Whitney Robertson, who is tied for sixth with a 77 in her first day in Sin City. Joining her in the top 10 of the tournament participants ranks sophomore Maddi Everts. She tied for ninth after carding a first round 79.
Freshman Lydia Triplett finished with a solid score, tying for 11th with an 81. Sophomore Megan Williamson just missed out on ranking in the top 15 after the first day, notching an 82 to tie for 16th.
Wrapping up the scoring on the day was sophomore Allison Geer, whose 85 put her in a tie for 26th overall out of 45 participants.
With one more day to go, the Golden Eagles will need a big push to take over the lead spot and the tournament championship as Lynn University sits 19 strokes ahead after a huge day from four of its players, all ranking in the top 5.
The Tech squad will make that push with a 10 a.m. CT shotgun.
