COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech tennis team's bid at four straight victories went by the books, as the Golden Eagles dropped their non-conference contest 5-2 to UNC Asheville Sunday afternoon at Tech Tennis Courts.

TTU's second-to-last non-league affair of the season did feature the Golden Eagles (3-9, 3-0 HL) claiming the doubles point for the fourth-straight match. The TTU tandem of Davids Spaks and Lucas Bitzer secured a 7-6 victory over Rafa Serra and Jon Brann Reid in the No. 1 tangle to go along with an Alex Alvarez and Darek Kuczynski 6-1 nod against Freddy Murray and Sam Nicholson in the No. 3 position to propel the purple and gold to the duo point.

Tech dropped the No. 2 doubles gathering behind a 6-4 Paulo Ramos Martin and Murilo Burckhardt defeat at the hands of Bruno Serra and Cian Ingles.

The Bulldogs (14-6) would go on to capture five-of-six singles meetings to ultimately seize the match. Tech's lone solo win came in the form of Darek Kuczynski 6-2, 6-4 triumph over Ingles in the No. 5 get-together.

Two of the other five solo matchups went to three sets, with Alex Alvarez falling 6-1, 4-6, 0-6 to Freddy Murray in the top slot and Paulo Ramos Martin getting tripped up 5-7, 6-4, 6-7 in the No. 3 position to Jon Brann Reid.

The Bulldogs used straight-set nods in the other three tussles thanks to a Sam Nicholson 6-1, 6-3 win against Murilo Burckhardt in the No. 2 clash, a Bruno Serra 6-3, 6-4 decision over Lucas Bitzer in the No. 4 spot and a Rafa Serra 6-3, 7-6 nod against Lukas Krause in the No. 6 meeting.

The Golden Eagles will continue their season-long, four-match homestand with a Wednesday non-conference affair against New Mexico State in the final non-league match of the regular season. First serve with the Aggies is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT and admission to Tech Tennis Courts is free of charge.
